Barnes Elementary
Barnes Elementary strives to provide positive educational experiences for parents by enhancing home/school relationships to improve student achievement.

Darden Middle
Darden Middle seeks to work diligently with parents to create a challenging learning environment that encourages high expectations for our students and parents. Our school will promote  an  orderly,  safe,  caring and  supportive  environment  for  our  students  and  parents. Darden Middle School is committed to developing students who are resilient and adaptable, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and disposition to continue their education and become personally fulfilled, interdependent and socially responsible adults.

Elm City Elementary
The staff at Elm City Elementary believes in the total developmental and educational process of developing a successful child. Parental involvement is so vital in a child’s academic success. Their cooperation, in-put, and support in school helps to enhance an effective school’s operations. We believe it is important that parents become shareholders in workshops, meetings, policies, effective communication and the educational process to ensure student success.

Gardners Elementary
It is the mission of Gardners Elementary to provide positive educational experiences for parents.  Our desire  is  to  enable  the  parents  to  help  their  children  achieve  their  maximum potential. We pledge our efforts and resources to developing strong partnership with parents involving all community stakeholder in pursuit of this mission.


Hearne Elementary
Hearne Elementary will hold a meeting for parents, teachers and students within the first month of the new school year to discuss expectations for high student achievement, status of the school in relation to the North Carolina Annual School Report Card and growth and proficiency data as measured by local, state, and federal mandates, resources available for continuous improvement, and the goals for the upcoming school year. The PTO president and other PTO officers will serve as parent representatives on the School Improvement Team during the school year. The School Improvement Team (Leadership Team) will discuss important issues related to all stakeholder.

Hearne Elementary will hold PTO meetings a minimum of four times per year to share updates about continuous student achievement and Title I requirements, to review current resources available for support in all curriculum areas, to present information about a selected curriculum topic and to view performances by various student groups. The PTO board will meet a minimum of four times a year to discuss financial reports, upcoming events, current school issues and on-going plans for continuous school improvement. The PTO board will present its discussion findings and outcomes during the scheduled general PTO meetings.

Hearne Elementary encourages parents to volunteer and become active in the overall school program. Parents may join the PTO or serve as a volunteer in various school capacities. Parents are also urged to schedule periodic conferences with teachers and the principal in order to discuss the academic progress of their child(ren). Hearne Elementary provides parents with various opportunities to become involved with the academic success of the school, and research indicates that student achievement will increase when the level of parental involvement at the school increases.

Hearne Elementary will issue accountability contracts during the first month of school or in accordance with a date set by the LEA. These contracts outline goals and responsibilities of parents, teachers, students and principals in order to for individual students to reach academic success. Contract meetings will be held at the school in order to discuss and agree on the goals and responsibilities as outlined by these contracts. Parents, students, teachers, and the principal will the contracts after the agreement is finalized.

Hearne Elementary administration and staff will provide assistance and resources as needed to those parents who have hardships, are disabled, and/or who are Limited English Proficient in order to maximize positive communication regarding the academic progress of their child(ren). Resources may include but are not limited to: translation of materials, assistance with facilities for handicapped parents, home visits, child care, transportation and providing interpreters during conferences and meetings.

Hearne  Elementary  will  communicate  with  parents  in  a  variety  of  ways:  PTO  meetings, scheduled  parent-teacher  conferences,  weekly  classroom  reports,  monthly  progress  reports, Parent Link calls, report cards, school newsletter, school website, curriculum-focus nights, social media such as Facebook and other letters and flyers as necessary.

Hearne Elementary will notify all parents of their right to request information on the professional qualifications of their child’s teacher(s), including the degrees and certifications held.  Parents may request to know if their child is receiving instruction by a paraprofessional, and if so, his/her qualifications. Hearne Elementary will also notify parents regarding information on the level of achievement of their child in each of the state academic assessments. Hearne Elementary will also notify parents if their child has been assigned or taught for at least four consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not meet the highly qualified requirements.

Jones Elementary
Jones Elementary is committed to a learning environment where rigor and relevance are the focus in everything we do. Parent and community partnerships are seen as a key component in our commitment. Our desire is that the relationship we build with parents and our community will create a lasting, positive impact on the lives of our students beyond their years here at Jones.

Lee Woodard Elementary
Lee Woodard is committed to helping parents become an integral part of the educational process. Lee Woodard will provide educational opportunities to parents in order to better understand state and local standards and how to impact their child’s/children’s performance.

Lucama Elementary
The mission of Lucama Elementary School is to instill the importance of an education and to educate all students to become productive citizens.

Rock Ridge Elementary
The education of children is a cooperative effort between parents, the community and the schools. Parents are their children’s first teachers and involvement by parents improves the educational achievement of their children. We believe that the involvement of parents increases the effectiveness of the program and contributes significantly to the success of the children. The Rock Ridge staff will strive to involve parents in activities throughout the school year.

Stantonsburg Elementary
Stantonsburg Elementary School will provide strong parent involvement by creating goals and activities which will enrich home, school and community involvement.

Vick Elementary
Communicate between home and school is regular, two-way and meaningful. Responsible parenting is promoted and supported. Parents play an integral role in assisting student learning. This school is open and inviting to parents and families and is actively seeking parental support and assistance for school programs. Parents are full partners in the decisions that affect children and families. Community resources are made available to strengthen school programs, family practices and student learning.

Vinson-Bynum Elementary
We seek to work together with families to create a positive, safe and caring community which fosters success for all children.

Wells Elementary
The staff of Wells Elementary recognize that a child’s education is a responsibility shared by both the school and the family. To support our school goal of helping each student reach his/her potential, the parents and the school must work together as knowledgeable partners. We support the active and on-going involvement of parents in the planning and review of school programs and activities.

Our parents are diverse in culture, language and needs, but we believe they share a commitment to the educational success of their children. We will strive to establish programs and practices that enhance involvement of parents and reflect the specific needs of students and their families.

Wells Elementary will develop and implement a parent involvement program, which will involve parents at all grade levels and in a variety of roles.

Wells Elementary will hold an annual school level meeting for all parents to discuss the Title-I funded programs and activities. We will document all group parent meetings by means of agenda/minutes.

Engaging parents is essential to improved student achievement. We will foster and support active parent involvement. The staff and administration of Wells Elementary School will support the participation of parents in the education of their child.
