Dr. Mills Named Superintendent back button

The Wilson County Board of Education met for a special meeting on Sun., May 1 and named Dr. Lane B. Mills as the superintendent for Wilson County Schools effective July 1, 2016, for a four-year term. Dr. Mills is currently the superintendent for Craven County Schools.

Dr. Mills is no stranger to our school district. He was the assistant superintendent of accountability and technology from 1997-2007. He then went to East Carolina University as an associate professor of educational leadership from 2007-2012 before becoming the superintendent in Craven County in 2012.

Dr. Mills said that he and his family are happy to be back in Wilson, where his children were born, and where they have deep roots. He is excited about working with students and staff to continue the great work being done here.

The Board and Superintendent Sean Bulson welcomed Dr. Mills. Dr. Bulson said that Dr. Mills is an outstanding educator and Wilson County Schools was in good hands under his leadership when he was here before and will continue to be. Dr. Bulson has appreciated having him as a superintendent colleague the past few years.

An event to welcome Dr. Mills will be held May 11 at 6:30 p.m. The location is to be determined. The public will be invited. Thank you!
