Simon Award Rubrics
It's time to start nominating WCS employees for the 2017 David Simon Excellence in Education Awards! There are four main nomination categories in which employees, parents and students can submit nominations. An elementary and secondary winner will be named in each category
The Simon Awards are named for the late David Simon, a Fike High School student who battled cancer with courage and an uncompromising commitment to his education until his death in August 2010, His goal to be excellent above all else defines the high performance required of those nominated in the award categories. 
See the attachment outlining the award guidelines, timeline, categories and nomination form. Also attached are the rubrics that our Teachers of the Year will use when they judge the nominations. 
Nominations should be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Mon., April 24Submit nominations (electronically or in paper form) to Amber Lynch at Central Office by email or through school courier.
Three finalists in each category will be announced in May, and the winners will be announced at Opening Day/the 2017 David Simon Excellence in Education Awards tentatively scheduled for Wed., Aug. 23 at Fike High School. Mark Roberts will again be our host!
