Annette Faison

2025-2026 Wilson County Schools Principal of the Year
Vick Elementary Principal Annette Faison was named the 2025-2026 Wilson County Schools Principal of the Year!!!
She was surprised on May 1, 2025, with the news! Ms. Faison has more than 20 years of experience in education - with 11 of those years as an administrator. This is her 4th year as the principal of Vick Elementary. Prior to that, she was the principal at Frederick Douglass Elementary. She began her career as a teacher at Hearne Elementary in 2001. Ms. Faison has transformed Vick into a thriving, close-knit school community where every student is seen, supported and celebrated. Through strong leadership and a focus on building systems that truly work together, she has empowered her staff, which she calls her “Crew,” to believe in their ability to drive change. In just two years, this collaborative approach has led to a 22-point jump in their academic achievement rating, proving that when teachers are supported, students succeed. Her leadership is grounded in growth, belief, humor and humility.
After being surprised, Ms. Faison shared these words with students, staff, district leaders and her family, “It may not feel like it at times but one thing we are doing is we are changing the narrative. And so at the end of the day, no matter what comes our way, we got this, and I got you. I love you.” She also shared with the Wilson Times what being an elementary principal means to her - “Because elementary school is the foundation, what we do here impacts the rest of their (students') lives. If we don’t get it right in elementary school, we are decreasing the chances of their success later. I just want to give them the best start period here at Vick Elementary.”
Special thanks to Wilson Education Partnership (WEP) for partnering with WCS on the surprise event! WCS and WEP both presented Ms. Faison with cash prizes totaling $1,500. She will now advance to the regional level of the statewide Principal of the Year competition! She is truly deserving of this honor and will represent us well!
