Other Interesting Facts: When I am not in my classroom, you will find me hanging with my closest friends, sitting on the beach in the sun, painting a canvas or serving as the youth director at First Presbyterian Church. I love to volunteer, and I enjoy spending time with others. I have been the youth director at FPC for the past two years and enjoy guiding teenagers as they navigate how to be a Christian in today's society.

Why I Teach: I began my teaching career eight years ago, but with a mother who was an educator for 36 years, I learned very early what it is like to teach others. I used to play school with my stuffed animals when I was a small kid. My first experience volunteering was working with the Keywanettes – a group of high school girls. When I was in school, I had teachers who were always positive no matter if I messed up and made a mistake. I want my students to think of my classroom the same way. When students enter my room, it is home to them. I greet each of them as if they are entering my house and from the first day, they know that FAIL is the First Attempt in Learning and to try again. I am the teacher I am today because of the wonderful influences of not only my mom, but also of all the wonderful teachers I had in Wilson County as a student.
