AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college and career readiness program designed to equip students with the skills, strategies, and support needed to succeed in rigorous coursework and beyond. Through collaboration, organization, and critical thinking, AVID helps students build confidence and prepare for success in college, careers, and life. The AVID program:
- Builds strong study habits, organization, and time-management skills.
- Strengthens writing, inquiry, collaboration, communication, organization, and reading (the AVID “WICOR” strategies).
- Provides structured support for college applications, essays, and financial aid.
- Exposes students to college-level expectations through tutorials and inquiry-based learning.
- Offers opportunities to visit college campuses and interact with admissions representatives.
- Builds the confidence and skills needed to persist through postsecondary education.
- Provides exposure to careers and pathways aligned with students’ interests and strengths.

Requirements for AVID
- 9th grade - Must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.
- 10th grade - Must maintain at least a 2.25 GPA.
- 11th grade - Must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.
- 12th grade - Must maintain at least a 2.75 GPA.
