Welcome to the Stantonsburg Elementary Media Center!
Welcome to the Stantonsburg Elementary Media Center where students are engaged in all kinds of learning opportunities using media resources in various formats...books, magazines, websites, e-books, video clips, and technology. It is my goal to foster and develop a love of reading and learning that will last a lifetime among our "Stars".
This year students in all grades will also get to participate in our STEM/STEAM program which engages students in the Sciences, Technologies, Engineering, Arts, and Math. During these opportunities, materials will be needed in order to build and conduct experiments. Most of the items listed on the attached sheet are inexpensive or are items that one can simply begin saving for our program. Any items that you feel you could donate towards our program would certainly be appreciated. You may send materials by your child or bring them in yourself.
Elementary Battle of the Books is a program that is open to fourth and fifth graders who are interested in reading quality literature representing various genres and competing in a competition with other fourth and fifth graders from across the county in the spring. During the battle each team will answer questions about the books and authors. The most important goal of this program is to develop a positive attitude towards reading which will last a lifetime and to promote team skills and cooperation among the students. See list below.
SMTAC is a Student Media and Technology Advisory Club designed to promote the media program by having fifth graders actively engaged not only in the operational aspects of running a media center but also in the decision making process such as book selection. Students will learn responsibility and will serve as role models among their peers.
