Mrs. Lyndia Kornegay Howard
I am Mrs. Lyndia Kornegay Howard. I have had various levels of careers within the educational field for over 30 years. I worked in group homes from 1989 to 1998, owned my own group facility for five years, worked in juvenile detention and youth development centers for a combined twelve years. Currently, I am employed at Darden Middle School. I have worked at Darden Middle School for almost five years as a Special Education Teacher. I love working with our students at various levels.
I am a teacher and an advocate for our students. I love seeing our students make progress, whether small or large milestones, academically and socially. I encourage our students to understand that it is not a disability or your past that defines you, but your perseverance. I love seeing our children smile when they are pleased with their progress. I role model daily to show our students that it is our characters that define each of us.
Currently, I am the chairperson of the Special Education Department at Darden Middle School. I serve on various departments in the school. During the 2021-2022 School Year in February 2022, I was nominated as the "Teacher of the Year" for Darden Middle School. Earlier in the year, I was nominated as the Teacher of the Week.
Motto and Mission:
My motto is: "Treat Others Like You Would Like to be Treated Even on Your Bad Days"
My Mission for our students: " Do Not Let Your Disability Define Your Destination"
"DO YOUR VERY BEST"
