SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS
All substitute teachers intending to work for the 2024-2025 school year are required to complete registration by submitting both the intent form and the attestation form. If you have not yet done so, please contact our office.
The April 14, 2025, Wilson County Board of Education Meeting will be the last round of substitutes hired for the 2024-2025 school year. Subs who would like to make this cut off need to have all applications in and completed by April 8, 2025. Substitutes who do not meet this cut-off date will be processed in July.
All current subs should receive their intent to return letter by June 1, 2025, they will need to return their intent forms by June 30, 2025 to Central Office. Substitute yearly training dates will be held in July 2025. More information about the yearly training dates will be provided with the intent forms. Substitutes must be reapproved by the Board at the start of each school year. Substitutes will not be able to take jobs during the 2025-2026 school year until they have returned their intent forms, completed the yearly training and been approved by the board.

What is the pay rate for a substitute teacher?
- Non-Certified Substitute Teachers earn $100 per day.
- Certified Substitute Teachers earn $140 per day. All certified substitute teachers must provide a copy of their current North Carolina license.
- Certified Substitute Teachers with any teaching license who consistently report at least 75 percent of a pay period and who perform certain duties such as creating lesson plans, grading student work, facilitating parent conferences and/or participating in after-school activities may earn $150 per day.
- Certified Substitute Teachers with a teaching license in the area in which they are subbing who consistently report at least 75 percent of a pay period and who perform certain duties such as creating lesson plans, grading student work, facilitating parent conferences and/or participating in after-school activities may earn $159 per day.
