Apply to WAVE

The Wilson Academy of Virtual Education (WAVE) is excited to announce limited enrollment for the 2022 spring semester. There are limited slots available in grades 4-8 only for the spring semester 2022.

Before registering, families need to review the student and parent responsibilities, which are:

  • Students must be enrolled in 4th - 8th grade in the 2021-2022 school year.

  • Families must have reliable Internet Access (does not include school-provided hotspot or cellphone data plan).

  • Students must show evidence of successful academic performance and attendance in virtual, remote learning, and in-person learning environments in the past and/or

    • Academic performance in previous years.

    • Grade level/academic proficiency as indicated by End of Grade tests, state exams, or other data points.

  • Families must commit to provide a learning coach for their student. Parent and guardian involvement is a huge part of student success and is expected at WAVE. At WAVE, parents and guardians are referred to as "learning coaches" because they help their students learn and grow while at home throughout the school year.

  • Students must be willing to commit to attend WAVE for the semester. However, we want to ensure success for all students, so this commitment can be re-evaluated as needed and/or at the end of each grading period. Students who leave WAVE will not be allowed to re-enroll during the 21-22 school year.

  • Students must complete work each day in all classes, including core, specials, and electives.

Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee enrollment into WAVE.  Wilson County Schools hopes to have decision letters mailed by early December for new students to enter into WAVE during the spring semester 2022. The online application window for WAVE will be open until November 12, 2021.  Late applications will not be accepted.
