Required Immunizations

Per state law, kindergartners, 7th graders, 12th graders, and students attending an NC public school for the first time must have certain immunizations unless they have a valid exemption. Wilson Academy of Virtual Education students must also provide proof of receiving the mandatory immunizations. The required immunizations do not include the COVID-19 vaccine.

The first day of school for our traditional schools is Aug. 26, and the first day for our early college students was Aug. 1. If your student is in kindergarten, 7th grade, 12th grade or is new to attending a public school, they will need an updated immunization record within 30 calendar days of the first day of school. If the school does not receive this information, state law prohibits the student from being allowed to attend school after the 30th day. Once your student receives the immunizations and the school is provided with proof, the student can return to school.

All kindergartners and students attending an NC public school for the first time need a health assessment completed by their medical provider with an updated immunization record submitted before the 30-day deadline. Health assessments dated one year before the first day of school will be accepted. The immunization record and health assessment can be turned in at the school by the student or a parent or guardian.

Please schedule an appointment with your medical provider if your student needs updated immunizations or a health assessment form.
