The Wilson County Board of Education has named Dr. Ben Williams as Superintendent of Wilson County Schools, effective July 1, 2026. Dr. Williams is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services, a role he has held since July 1, 2020. The Board voted to appoint Dr. Williams during a Special Board of Education meeting on March 25, 2026.

Sept. 23, is the 30th day of school for traditional students who began the school year on Aug. 25. Effective Sept. 24, students in Kindergarten, 7th grade, 12th grade, and those attending a North Carolina public school for the first time will NOT be allowed to attend school if they have not submitted an updated immunization record and/or a completed health assessment.

Wilson County Schools experienced increases in overall proficiency and growth for the 2024-2025 school year and is now ranked 34th out of 115 districts in overall proficiency compared to 37th in the state last school year. This is the highest state ranking the district has ever achieved! Wilson County Schools is only 2.5% away from being one of the top 20 performing districts in the state.

North Carolina law now requires all public schools to show a video to students in grades 6-12 within the first five days of the school year regarding inappropriate behavior and adult sexual misconduct in school settings. Families have the right to complete an opt out form if you do not want your student to watch the video.
