Dr. Ben Williams

The Wilson County Board of Education has named Dr. Ben Williams as Superintendent of Wilson County Schools, effective July 1, 2026. Dr. Williams is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services, a role he has held since July 1, 2020. The Board voted to appoint Dr. Williams during a Special Board of Education meeting on March 25, 2026.

WCS Career Fair - all of the information on the flyer is on the page

Please join us for the 2026 Wilson County Schools Career Fair on Sat., March 21, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 116 Lipscomb Rd. in Wilson (Darden Middle School). All of our schools and departments will be represented at the Career Fair and preliminary interviews will be held onsite. We are asking interested applicants to bring a resume and a recent transcript.

2024-2025 Accountability Highlights

Wilson County Schools experienced increases in overall proficiency and growth for the 2024-2025 school year and is now ranked 34th out of 115 districts in overall proficiency compared to 37th in the state last school year. This is the highest state ranking the district has ever achieved! Wilson County Schools is only 2.5% away from being one of the top 20 performing districts in the state.

Shout Out! to the Smithsonian Science Education Center and Johnson & Johnson for joining forces to support our WCS Teaching & Learning Conference on Aug. 14! The Smithsonian Science Education Center facilitated dynamic STEM sessions designed to immerse our teachers in the center’s innovative Smithsonian Science for Global Goals guides, which are filled with hands-on activities that connect science learning to real-world challenges. Leaders from Johnson & Johnson’s new biotherapeutics facility explained the science behind the advanced manufacturing of biologic therapies and shared valuable information about STEM career opportunities that will be available once the new facility is built and commissioned.

Required Immunizations

As the new school year approaches, please be aware of North Carolina’s immunization and health assessment requirements for certain students. If records are not submitted by the 30-day deadline, students will NOT be allowed to attend school until documentation is received, per state law.

Parent Portal Update

Wilson County Schools is now using Infinite Campus as our new Student Information System, replacing PowerSchool. With this change, we’re excited to introduce a new Parent Portal where you’ll be able to view your student’s attendance, grades and assignments.

Wilson County Schools provides students with the opportunity to seek reassignment to a school based on criteria established by the Board of Education. The reassignment request window is now open, and the deadline to complete the reassignment application online is June 1, 2025. Click the title to read more.

WAVE Enrollment

The online application process is now open for students in grades 5-11 who are interested in attending the Wilson Academy of Virtual Education (or WAVE) for the 2025-2026 school year. To learn more, attend the Virtual Information Meeting on March 5 at 6 p.m.
